A thought-provoking exercise in pencil from circa 2009/10, when I was obsessed with the roof timbers and window masonry of Gothic churches (still am).
In German, the term for a seed (in an apple, encompassing the core which surrounds the seeds) is "Kerngehauese" and I merged the idea of fruits, leaves and architecture together. These drawings reference the main constituent of timber (lignin) and emphasize its source (trees and other plants). Something I could play around with a little more, I feel!
